PMR Assists in Search for Missing Person Near Banks
Saturday, February 2, 2002
Upon the request of the Washington (Oregon) County Sheriff, members of
Portland Mountain Rescue joined in the Saturday search for a missing
person in Glenwood, Oregon, about 8 miles West of the city of Banks.
The search focused on a 34-year-old male who, at the time, had been missing for
over 10 days. PMR partnered with multiple other low elevation search and
rescue (SAR) groups from around the area like Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue.
PMR members covered three search grids over the course of the day, including
some portions of steep and thickly brush covered terrain. However, as
of Saturday evening, the missing subject had not been located.
Though the mission did not truly capitalize on our high angle and mountain
rescue skill sets, Portland Mountain Rescue was pleased to provide highly-trained
SAR volunteers to the effort.
