PMR Internet-Based Media Request Policy
Revised December 12, 2007

Preface:
Portland Mountain Rescue is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to saving lives through rescue and education.  Though many of our search and rescue (SAR) operations receive little or no direct media attention, we understand that events will occasionally warrant a higher media profile - locally, nationally or internationally.

PMR also understands that due to our close proximity to the scene of operations, photos and accounts of certain missions may be newsworthy and desired by commercial and non-commercial media outlets.

SAR mission photos are taken to:
1. Document the incident scene
2. Assist government authorities in their investigations
3. Supplement PMR education, publicity and fundraising campaigns

News Account Distribution Policy:
All news accounts displayed in the Portland Mountain Rescue website (www.pmru.org) may be used without prior permission from PMR.  Any quotations used from this website must be credited to "Portland Mountain Rescue".  Please note that, due to the fluid nature of search and rescue operations, PMR disclaims all warranties including accuracy and fitness for a particular purpose.

Low Resolution Photo Distribution Policy:
All low resolution photos displayed in the Portland Mountain Rescue website (www.pmru.org) may be used without prior permission from PMR only if the following conditions are met:

1. Photos must be credited to "Portland Mountain Rescue"
2. Photos must not be altered in any way
3. Portland Mountain Rescue retains full use rights of the photos

All deviations from this policy requires the prior written permission of the Portland Mountain Rescue Board of Directors.

High Resolution Photo Distribution Policy:
Newsworthy high resolution photos may be made available to the commercial and non-commercial media at the discretion of Portland Mountain Rescue.  Certain photos may be distributed to all media organizations at no charge.  However, Portland Mountain Rescue reserves the right to exclusively distribute specific photos to a single media outlet.  In these cases, PMR requests that the fair and reasonable fees paid for these photos be donated to our organization's general operating fund.  Checks should be made out to "Portland Mountain Rescue" and sent to the address shown at the bottom of the page.

In either event, the high resolution photos may not be used without meeting the following conditions:

1. Photos must be credited to "Portland Mountain Rescue"
2. Photos may not be significantly altered, except for cropping
3. Portland Mountain Rescue retains full use rights of the photos

All deviations from this policy requires the prior written permission of the Portland Mountain Rescue Board of Directors.
