PMR Receives Community Safety Award

The North Clackamas County Chamber of Commerce presented Portland Mountain Rescue with an award at their Community Safety Appreciation Luncheon on Monday, February 22, 2010. The program is an annual event held as the kick-off to Community Safety Appreciation Week and designed to give the community the chance to thank public safety employees and volunteers for their hard work and constant sacrifice.
A non-profit volunteer organization, PMR provides specialized search and rescue services to Mt. Hood and other areas in the region. In 2008, PMR participated in 14 missions, rescuing 10 individuals and logged in over 5,000 hours of volunteer time. PMR also provides outdoor and wilderness safety training with seminars and lectures, safety brochures, mountain safety classes to youths, avalanche awareness training, and much more.
PMR was nominated for this award by American Medical Response and the award was presented by Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
