Missing Woman Found After Night in Wilderness
Monday, September 13, 2004
A woman from Sandy, Oregon, was found alive Monday after spending a cold and wet night in the Mount Hood National Forest near Estacada, Oregon.
The 55-year-old had been picking mushrooms with friends on Sunday but became separated from her group and eventually lost.  The weather was somewhat poor with cool temperatures and occasional rain.  Adding to the concern of authorities, the subject was not prepared to spend the night outdoors.  Fortunately, she was found less than 24 hours after becoming lost.
Early Monday morning, ten members of Portland Mountain Rescue joined many others from Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue and area Explorer Posts to mount a search for the woman.  The weather was rainy and cool and the terrain difficult for the volunteers.
Reportedly, a passing hiker found the subject while the search was in progress.  Her condition is not known.
